OLDS — About 80 people attended an event marking the International Day of Persons With Disabilities Dec. 3 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 in Olds.

The gathering, organized by Olds & District Special Family Voices (ODSFV), featured music and an opportunity to dance.

ODSFV president Cindy Tippe was pleased with the turnout, noting that it was for all people, not only those with disabilities.

Olds, Didsbury and Mountain View County council members were in attendance as well.

Tippe said last year, the celebration was more of an open house. She liked this format.

She’s not sure yet what sort of format the event will adopt next year.

“We’ll see what the group wants to do,” she said during an interview.
