Land use bylaws for dog park to go before county council

The road toward an off-leash dog park near Olds will now go through the county.

The road toward an off-leash dog park near Olds will now go through the county.
According to Doug Wagstaff, the town's director of community services, Olds has applied to Mountain View County to rezone the town's old landfill on 70 Avenue, which is the proposed site for the park.
"That's going through their land use bylaw process right now. All the adjacent landowners out by the dog park have been notified. So we're waiting to have the public land use hearing with the county," Wagstaff said after a council meeting on June 23.
So far, there's no specific date for when the proposed park would be ready for use if it's approved.
The town owns the land but work on the site cannot commence until the county passes the bylaws.
"We're shooting to try and have it before snowfall. Right now we're waiting for the regulatory process with the county," Wagstaff said. "We can't do any fencing or any work on the parking lot until that process has been adopted."
