OLDS — The Olds Health Care Committee (OHCC) is back with a live, in-person fundraising event.
The committee is presenting Dueling Pianos April 30 at the ORE’s Cow Palace. Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m.
OHCC chair Liz Mills anticipates the performance will begin at about 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $80.
This marks the first time in two years that the committee has held a live, in-person fundraising event. Last year, they held a silent auction via Rosehill Auction Service & Olds Auction Mart on Facebook Live.
All proceeds from the event go toward the committee's Newborn Health Campaign to purchase four panda warmers for the Olds Hospital and Care Centre.
Mills says panda warmers deliver everything newborns need right away in one piece of equipment.
All told, the committee hopes to raise $130,000 for the panda warmers.
“We’re already halfway there,” Mills said during an interview.
Mills is pretty confident they’ll get a good crowd.
“I’m optimistic,” she said. “People are so fed up (with being cooped up inside, due to COVID).”
Other attractions planned during the event include a 50/50 and a liquor chest fundraiser.
Mills said attendees will also have an opportunity to, for a fee, have their choice of music played.
