OLDS — The COVID-19 pandemic didn’t seem to impact the Smile Cookie campaign at Tim Hortons locations in Olds, Innisfail, Sundre and Didsbury, as sales of Smile Cookies last week shot up by more than $10,000 over last year.
Todd Jacobs, who co-owns those franchises, says this year, all those locations combined sold more than $33,800 worth of Smile Cookies, up $10,100 from last year, when sales totalled more than $23,700.
Sales of those cookies went to a different charity in each location.
In Olds, the charity was Hope 4 MVC Kids, which helps provide funding for families of children requiring medical help when all other sources of assistance fail.
The Didsbury store raised funds for the Wild Rose Humane Society.
Funds raised at the Sundre store will go to helping Greenwood Neighbourhood Place.
Money raised at the Innisfail location will go to Youth HQ which coordinates the Innisfail branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
In Olds, both locations raised $10,163. Sundre raised $13,048, Didsbury $4,375 and in Innisfail the total was $6,215.
“I am very happy to say that it was an incredibly successful week for all five of our locations,” Jacobs wrote in an email, adding people in all those communities “really got behind these charities.”
Jacobs also praised representatives of the non-profits.
“The organizations all did a great job in helping bring awareness to their respective charities and Smile Cookie week,” he wrote.
“An extra special mention needs to be made for both Dolores Dercach with Greenwood Neighbourhood Place in Sundre and Lisa Nicholson with Hope for MVC Kids in Olds.
“Dolores and her team increased Smile Cookie sales in Sundre this year by over $4,500 and Lisa and her team in Olds increased sales in Olds by over $4,000. These are truly some great efforts.”
He also congratulated the employee teams involved in the campaign.
“A lot of effort from our teams go into Smile Cookie week and we just wanted to say thank you to them as well for making the week such a success,” he wrote.
