OLDS — Olds RCMP say the May long weekend was relatively quiet for them, but there were a few incidents.

Cpl. Courtney Harding says there was lots of traffic on Friday, May 21 as people headed west to camp.

“We were visible on the highway doing speed enforcement, with the fastest speed being clocked via radar at 146 km/h on Highway 27,” Harding wrote in an email. “The driver was charged for the excessive speed.”

Police received a complaint that a white 2005 F350 had been stolen overnight from the Olds Auction Mart.

The incident was caught on surveillance and as of May 26 was still under investigation.

During the weekend, RCMP received one complaint about non-compliance with COVID-19 restrictions.

They also dealt with a few mental health related calls, and some family disputes.

RCMP also received a report that youths were “breaking” a park on Beech Crescent.

They went to the scene and met with youths to investigate. No charges are anticipated.

Meanwhile, RCMP are continuing to investigate an incident of vandalism at Bowden Grandview School.

Police say on May 19, youths threw a rock through a window on Grandview School. The incident was caught on surveillance video.
