"Our class sizes are all around 30; 26 (in) Grade 7," he said in an email.
This year, three teachers are new to EDMS.
Collin says Taylor Buit is a "brand new teacher" but in familiar surroundings, as she was an EDMS student. She will be teaching Grade 8, as will Melissa Vasseur. Melissa Johnson is teaching Grade 7.
Buit lives near Bentley. Johnson taught in Innisfail and lives in Olds. Vasseur taught at River Valley School in Sundre and lives east of Olds.
A couple of teachers are new to the staff at École Olds Elementary School (EOES).
Meraw says so far, attendance at HTCS is up to about 290 from an average of about 280.
He says a significant reason for that increase is that so far this year, there are 42 kindergarten students. That's forced creation of two kindergarten classes.
Meraw says in previous years, the school has had an average of about 25 kindergarten students.
"It's a great start for the school," he says. "If they're choosing Catholic education for the long run it'll benefit the school for the long run, which is our hope."
Two teachers are new to the staff at École Olds High School (EOHS) this year.
Michael Brown is the new shop teacher, and Jeff Clattenburg is the school's new athletic director and phys-ed teacher.
Prior to coming to EOHS, Brown taught at River Valley School in Sundre for five years. He replaces Doug Shaw, who retired in June.
Clattenburg taught at EDMS for the past eight years. He comes to the athletic director role after Wanda Vandervelden retired last year.
EOHS principal Tom Christensen says so far, enrolment at the school is up by 40 to 50 students.
Olds Koinonia Christian School has 333 students so far, down slightly from last year.
They have a new teacher, too. Chelsea Crotser is in her first teaching job, teaching Grade 1 and covering maternity leave.
At the Olds Career High School and off campus learning facility, Shauna Ward is the new humanities teacher. She was previously a teacher at Cremona School. Mike Bass is the new family school wellness worker.
Enrolment in the school continuously changes throughout the year, but administrative support worker Mary Wilson says so far, in general, it's on par with last year.
