The RCMP is asking for Mountain View County residents to call the detachment if they were pulled over by someone pretending to be a police officer.
"A little while ago, we had two vehicles that were pulled over by someone posing to be a police officer,î said Const. Brendan Ward, Olds RCMP.
"We are looking for details: what happened, what did they say, if they received any kind of ticket, any information like that, what was the person wearing.î
The RCMP has reason to believe the false police officer struck more than two times.
"At this point, we have an ongoing investigation. We know who is responsible,î said Cpl. Jay Peden, Olds RCMP.
"We know the public has not been at risk. As a result of this, however, we are seeking the public's input.î
According to information provided by the RCMP, the false police officer was a man, who wore a uniform that led people to believe he was a real police officer and that he was armed. He drove a car that led people to believe it was an unmarked vehicle.
"Because of this ongoing investigation, we do not want to disclose too much information about what the public told us,î said Peden.
The RCMP believes the incidents might have started last June.
"I am fairly confident it will not happen again. It is something that we have dealt with,î said Peden.
People can reach Const. Brendan Ward at 403-556-3324 or at the Olds RCMP detachment.
