Olds' first baby of the year, a girl named Dakota Hamm, was born last Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 12:21 a.m. at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre. She weighed six pounds, 14 ounces and already had blond hair. She joins father Kyle, mother Taren and big sister Bella Grace.
Dakota was born via a planned C-section.
"The birth went well,î said Taren.
"The planned C-section made it a little easier.î
The Hamms said they feel that their family is now complete and do not intend to have another child.
"We are just very happy that our family is finished,î said Taren.
"Now we can go home and enjoy them.î
The Hamms received two hampers' worth of gifts from 36 local businesses and associations to celebrate the occasion. The hampers contained baby clothes, baby food and diapers, among other things. The hamper donations were collected and presented to the couple by the Xi Alpha Sigma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
