No charges have been laid regarding a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 27 east of Secondary Highway 766 on July 21.

As of late last week, no charges had been laid in the wake of a fatal collision that occurred west of Olds.

RCMP say the collision occurred at about 3:15 p.m. July 21 when an eastbound Ford Mustang crossed the centre line just east of Secondary Highway 766 and hit a westbound Ford F-350 pulling a camper trailer.

The driver of the Mustang, a 63-year-old Cochrane woman, died on-scene.

Her passenger, a 10-year-old child, was transported to the Olds Hospital and Care Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver and lone occupant of the truck, an Olds resident, was assessed by ambulance personnel on-scene and released.

An RCMP collision analyst attended the scene to help determine the cause of the collision.

"Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor," Olds RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald says.

Traffic on Highway 27 was impassable until the investigation was completed and traffic was redirected from the scene.
