Members of the Olds High School (OHS) Interact Club are putting the finishing touches on arrangements for their ninth annual fundraising banquet.

It takes place this Tuesday, March 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the OHS Commons. The theme is OHS talents and passions.

This year, the club hopes to raise money for two causes: sending a shelter box to a community that needs one and supporting the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS).

ShelterBox is an international charity that sends kits containing temporary shelter and supplies to families displaced by war or other disasters.

"We have worked with Wynne Bjorgan who is with ShelterBox Canada and she will be the keynote speaker at our banquet.  She will outline this valuable program and a display will be available for guests to see that evening," a post on the OHS website says.

Interact members also want to support PADS – Pacific Assistance Dogs Society.

"PADS is a program that breeds, raises, trains and supports certified assistance dogs and partners them with people living with disabilities and with community care professionals.  Interact had volunteers bring in some of the puppies during exam week to assist students who were dealing with elevated stress levels," the post says.
