Olds High School has just been named Fair Trade School of the Year.

Olds High School has just been named Fair Trade School of the Year.

The announcement was made Monday (March 5) by Bev Toews, who serves as an educational assistant at OHS as well as the school's UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) network coordinator.

Toews also chairs Fair Trade Olds. The fair trade movement calls for people -- especially in developing countries – to get a better price for their products so they can move out of poverty and create their products in a sustainable way.

She also sits on a Canadian Fair Trade Network board.
