OLDS — The Olds and District Chamber of Commerce is resurrecting its business awards banquet after a one-year absence, due to COVID.

This year’s edition will be held Oct. 20 at the Olds College Alumni Centre. The theme is Still Strong after 25 Plus 1 Years because last year was the local chamber of commerce's 25th year of existence.

Also, the chamber is re-introducing its business ethics award which this year will be sponsored by Rexall.

Murray Elliott, chair of the Chamber’s Business Awards committee, says the Didsbury Jazz Band will be “back by popular demand” to entertain the crowd.

This year, chamber members are encouraged to nominate businesses they think should win awards via the chamber’s Facebook account.

“This is just to nominate your business of choice,” chamber president Cassidy Kirsch says.

She says a panel of judges will choose the eventual award winners in each category.

Elliott says the chamber has kept prices down “taking into account the extra strain” on businesses, caused by the pandemic.

"It’ll be a great time and good food,” he added.
