OLDS — Building permit stats this year are off to a great start, according to operations director Scott Chant and development officer Kyle Sloan.
They presented building permit statistics during the town’s Municipal Planning Commission meeting on March 18.
During February this year, seven projects worth total of $1.05 million were approved, including four detached dwellings, three accessory structures and one commercial project.
In February last year, five projects worth a total of $169,000 were approved. That included four commercial projects worth a total of $153,000 and one accessory structure worth $16,000.
No permits for single detached dwellings were approved during February, 2020.
During the first two months of 2021, the town has approved $1.9 million worth of building permits. Last year at this time, it had approved $585,000 worth of building permits.
“As you can see in front of you, it’s been a very busy month for us,” Chant said. “We’re at just over $1 million, so a very strong start to the year.”
He said as a result of all that, development officer Kyle Sloan is “finding himself very busy these days.”
Sloan said the figure of four new dwelling units approved last month “matches our total for detached dwellings in 2020.”
