OLDS — Olds College of Agriculture & Technology remains in the top 50 research colleges in Canada, according to Research Infosource Inc., however its position has slipped from last year.
This year, Olds College is ranked 14th. Last year, it was ranked fourth.
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology(SAIT) took fourth place this year.
“We’re honoured to be recognized as one of the best research colleges in the nation,” interim vice-president of development & research Todd Ormann said in a prepared statement.
“We believe our applied research continues to strengthen the agriculture and ag tech industries in Canada.”
The college focuses its research on smart agriculture technology and practices, livestock production, crops and environmental stewardship.
To do so, college staff work with industry partners, academics and government to support applied research, innovation, commercialization and entrepreneurship.
“We remain committed to building the foundation that helps address real-world challenges with farming, food and land,” Ormann said. “We’re excited to contribute to the growth of Canada’s agricultural industry in a sustainable way.”
