Olds College names new president

Olds College has announced the appointment of its current chief innovation officer, Stuart Cullum, as the new president and chief executive officer. Cullum succeeds Tom Thompson, who has served as president and CEO since 2001.

Cullum succeeds Tom Thompson, who has served as president and CEO since 2001. Cullum will assume his new role on July 1.

According to a press release sent Monday (May 29), Cullum came to Olds College last November and has been responsible for leading its innovation agenda.

ìMr. Cullum has been instrumental in the development of the Werklund Agriculture Institute and positioning Olds College as a leader in Smart Agriculture,î said Leona Staples, chair of the Olds College Board of Governors.

Previously, Cullum was vice-president of academics and chief operating officer at Lethbridge College, vice-president of agriculture at Northlands in Edmonton, and an executive director at NAIT.

ìMr. Cullum brings a depth of knowledge and experience from the agriculture industry and his past career experiences have also provided him with a strong network across the post-secondary system in Canada.î

Cullum and his wife, Bobbi, farmed in the Three Hills area until 2009 and continue to participate in the cattle business with their family.
