Olds town council has set its 2018 budget.
The budget totals $28,400,870, down from $28,670,797 in 2017.
In order to make it work, taxes will be increased by two per cent, a decision initially made last November.
As a result, taxes for the average home (worth $317,275) will be $2,716.58, up $60.84 a year or $5 a month, chief administrative officer Michael Merritt says.
Taxes include requisitions for municipal costs, school divisions, and seniors' housing.
Merritt provided the following breakdown of how much those costs factor into this year's taxes: municipal, $36.04; school requisition, $13.37; and seniors' housing, $11.43.
Tax notices will be mailed out the week of May 14 and will be due June 30, Merritt says.
