OLDS — A breakfast meeting to discuss ways for businesses to deter crime is being organized.
It’s slated to occur April 23, at a location yet to be determined, Olds & District Chamber of Commerce president Doug Rieberger says.
Rieberger informed the crowd gathered for the the March 13 chamber annual general meeting of the plans.
He said Olds RCMP commanding officer Staff Sgt. Warren Wright will be in attendance, along with an officer from Airdrie who specializes in how to deter crime by altering the exteriors of businesses.
One attendee asked if ways to make the interiors of businesses less enticing to criminals will be discussed as well.
Rieberger said it’s his understanding that this specialist deals only with the exteriors of businesses, but added that the topic is crime prevention for businesses in general.
“With some of the stuff we have happening in town it might be a good one to be at,” he said.
Rieberger said the breakfast will be posted on the chamber’s website and it should be possible soon to obtain tickets for it via that site as well.
