An Olds man driving what police say was a stolen commercial truck was arrested Thursday, June 28 in Carstairs.
The 43-year-old suspect is currently in custody and faces several charges, including possession of stolen property over $5,000 and flight from police.
At about 9 a.m. Thursday, those aboard a Calgary Police Services (CPS) HAWCS helicopter requested Airdrie RCMP to help them recover a stolen vehicle.
CPS reported that a commercial landscaping truck, stolen in Calgary, was parked in Airdrie. RCMP sent marked and unmarked police vehicles to the area.
The stolen truck then headed northbound out of Airdrie along range roads 13 and 14.
The truck eventually entered Carstairs, but was caught with the assistance of Airdrie and Didsbury RCMP, along with Calgary RCMP police dog services.
"The lone male suspect attempted to flee from the truck within Carstairs and run on foot. RCMP police dog services were successful in apprehending the suspect in a back alley," an RCMP news release says. "The suspect sustained minor injuries during the arrest while no one else was injured."
