OLDS — RCMP are investigating a fatal collision near Swan Hills that killed an Ontario man and sent two others – including an Olds resident – to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to the scene at 3:19 p.m. on Nov. 25.
Swan Hills RCMP, along with Whitecourt RCMP Traffic Services and Alberta sheriffs attended.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck was travelling northbound on Highway 32 when it crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound pickup truck hauling a trailer,” an RCMP news release says.
“Despite life-saving attempts by the responding RCMP officers, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) declared the driver and lone occupant of the northbound vehicle, a 27-year-old male from Cambridge, Ont., deceased,” the release added.
RCMP won't be releasing the name of the deceased.
Two occupants of the southbound pickup truck, a 63-year-old man from Olds who drove the vehicle, and a 24-year-old male passenger from Grande Prairie, were transported by EMS to a local hospital.
As of this past weekend, Swan Hills RCMP and an RCMP collision reconstructionist were still investigating the collision.
