OLDS — During town council’s Jan. 24 meeting, Town of Olds Mayor Judy Dahl paid tribute to former councillor George William (Bill) Windsor.

Windsor passed away on Jan. 6 in the Olds Hospital & Care Centre at the age of 93.

Windsor, a junior high and high school teacher, served on Olds town council from 1971 to 1974.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1928 in High River. Over the years, he and his wife Vinnetta lived in Olds, Rocky Mountain House and Edmonton and raised six children.

When not teaching biology to his students, Windsor played and coached hockey and spent time singing and playing guitar, gardening, fly fishing or bow hunting.

“Mr. George William (Bill) Windsor was a dedicated servant of the Town of Olds, having served with distinction on town council from 1971 until 1974,” Dahl said.

On behalf of Olds residents, council and town staff, Dahl expressed appreciation for Windsor’s “leadership, his guidance and devoted service while on council” and offered “our heartfelt condolences to Bill’s family and friends.”
