OLDS - On Dec. 15, members of Olds Protective Services, including RCMP and Olds firefighters conducted their annual Fill the Boot Drive-By campaign outside the fire hall.

Donations went to support the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society and the Olds & District Christmas Angels Society.

Participants received just a few dollars shy of $10,000, up slightly from last year when about $8,100 was raised.

Protective services director Justin Andrew called that "a great community result."

"We can’t thank the community enough for the generosity towards two very deserving organizations focused on helping others," he added. "Olds has always been a very charitable town and it is a pleasure to call it home."

Participants also gave out candy canes.
