"Initial investigation has determined the car was travelling northbound at a high rate of speed and was unable to navigate the righthand bend in the road," an RCMP news release says.

"The vehicle careened across the westbound lane of travel, across the sidewalk onto the grass, ultimately striking a wood fence. The car destroyed about 10 to 15 feet of fence before the driver brought the car back onto the street and (fled) the scene."

RCMP are looking for a red, small car with body damage to the driver's side.
