OLDS — In honour of Remembrance Day, Seasons Olds Retirement Community held its annual Pennies for Poppies program to pay tribute to veterans.

Through this campaign, Seasons Olds raised funds for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 in Olds with the support of residents, team members, families, and community members.

Seasons Olds also joined other Seasons communities across Alberta and Ontario in 'planting' paper poppies inside and outside their residences to honour veterans, many of whom call Seasons home.

Via the program, residents, staff and visitors were invited to make donations through self-service poppy boxes.

“The commemorative paper poppy garden display was created as a tribute to the remarkable resident heroes, reinforcing Seasons' commitment to honouring those who served and preserving their stories,” a news release said.

“November allows us to reflect on the sacrifices and valour demonstrated by those who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces.”

"Every year, Pennies for Poppies allows us to come together as a community and express our immense appreciation to veterans and active service people," Seasons Olds general manager Liberty Poon said in the release.

"Seasons is grateful to those that live and work with us and the greater community for their continued support year after year."
