OLDS — Mountain View Seniors' Housing (MVSH) celebrated the grand opening of its life lease parking shelter at Mount View Lodge on May 4.

An outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony was held and COVID-19 pandemic protocols were followed.

MVSH chair and Olds town councillor Heather Ryan cut the ribbon along with Lloyd McCartney, one of the facility’s life lease residents.

Several life lease residents attended the ceremony. As independent seniors, they can use the parking shelter to keep their vehicles safe in bad or cold weather.

The parking shelter has been a dream for life lease residents since the lodge opened in 2011.`

Funding for it was shared between life lease residents and the MVSH board. `

Life lease residents at the facility provided funds from their reserve and the board loaned them funds which will repaid by a monthly parking fee. The board approved the project in 2020 and construction began.

The parking shelter was designed by the IBI architecture group and built by Shunda Construction Management with project management provided by Al Smart and Wayne Milaney.
