OLDS — Paving projects in the town are about 90 per cent complete, according to engineering technologist Ben McPhee.
In an email, McPhee said the last bit of paving was undertaken Sept. 25.
“Final landscaping and minor touch ups is all that is remaining. Work went exceptionally well, and we will complete what we set out to complete,” he wrote.
A total of $2.31 million was allocated for five projects.
52nd Street from 55th Avenue to 52nd Avenue: In this area, the sanitary sewer and water line water lines were replaced, and the road over top was repaved.
New sidewalks were also installed.
54th Street from 49th Avenue to 48th Avenue: The sanitary sewer and water line were replaced and the road over top was repaved. New sidewalks were also installed.
57th Avenue south of 60th Street to the southern boundary of the town: “This section of road is showing significant signs of road failures,” the budget document says.
In order to repair it, sections of that road were dug up, a new road base was installed and the road was repaved.
Duncan Place, which is located near Deer Meadow School: According to the budget document, the first section of Duncan Place has been “showing signs of road failure.”
Repairs included full excavation of the road there and replacement of concrete curb and gutter where needed.
52nd Ave and Highway 27: This intersection along Highway 27 has been closed with temporary jersey barriers, and will be permanently closed off with curb and gutter, sidewalk, and landscaping.
In the future, flower planters may eventually be installed there to “enhance the aesthetics of this area further,” according to a town budget document.
