Within the next week or two, all the paving projects in Olds should be completed, according to Scott Chant, the town's director of operations.

During an interview with the Albertan last week, Chant said paving and sidewalk repair projects throughout the town had been held up by wet weather.

"We've probably been a good three weeks behind on our main street programs," he said.

However, Chant said recent warm weather has allowed workers to catch up a great deal.

Paving and sidewalk repair programs include 54th Street near Olds Auction Mart & Rosehill Auction Service Ltd. where a water main break had occurred and in Uptowne along 51st Avenue from 48th Street to 52nd Street.

Other projects include road reconstruction along 43rd Street Close, as well as utility line extension and road reconstruction along 49th Avenue, sewer lining and road rebuilding in the northeast, and sewer lining along Imperial Drive.

Chant said paving and concrete repair work at 43rd Street Close was delayed by all the rain we received.

"It just saturated the clay so much that it wouldn't dry out without doing some major rework of the road," Chant said.  "That's all been completed. But now they're in there."

He said continuous pouring of the sidewalks in 43rd Street Close was well underway last week.
