OLDS — Lots of Olds residents were in the pink on Wednesday.
That’s because Feb. 28 was Pink Shirt Day, a day for those opposed to bullying and homophobia to wear pink shirts to raise awareness about the issue.
Jamie Woods, director of operations for BGC Olds and Area was one of those people.
She marked the day by not only wearing pink, but also dressing her English bulldog Opal in pink and taking the dog for a walk.
Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 after a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
Two other students then bought and distributed 50 pink shirts in solidarity with that youth – and the movement took off.
