Police are investigating an incident in which more than $600,000 worth of prohibited items were found at the medium security unit of Bowden Institution.

News media learned of the seizure of the contraband on June 26 but it was found on June 13.

Items confiscated include THC (the ingredient in cannabis which gets people "high)," methamphetamine, cellphones and cellphone chargers, earbuds, and DVD remote controls.

The total value of the items seized is estimated to be $604,000.

Back in mid-March, Bowden Institution officials seized $384,000 worth of contraband near the institution’s minimum security unit. Those items also included drugs and cellphones.

In late November 2018, a package containing similar items was found on the perimeter of the facility. Those items were estimated to be worth a total of $165,600.
