A public hearing date of Aug. 22 has been set to hear proposed amendments to the Chinook Meadows Area Structure Plan.
The proposed amendments have been prepared to make changes to land use allocation, arterial road location, collector roads, and open space based upon the ASP in the southwest area of Olds (bordering the south side of Lake Ridge and the west side of 57 Ave).
First reading was given to the two bylaws (2011-15, which proposes the amendment to the MDP, and 2011-16, which proposes the adoption of the ASP) at the July 11 council meeting.
“We are very excited to see the proposal. It's a new type of development,” said Mayor Judy Dahl. “I'm looking forward to seeing the concept come back for public hearing.” The proposed development's ASP includes sustainable housing, plans for an additional school, and a series of pathways that encourage active living.
“It's been engineered and drafted, and it's been through Parkland Planning Commission already. It's ready for a public hearing, and second and third reading,” said Dahl.
Dahl said more information would be discussed at the public hearing for these bylaws.
Copies of the proposed bylaws and their related materials can be available for viewing at the Town of Olds Office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and can be found online at www.olds.ca/planning/hearings.html.
People unable to attend the public hearing are encouraged to send their comments and suggestions to Jolene Tejkl of Parkland Community Planning Services at [email protected] by no later than August 15.
