BOWDEN - Rain has set back a project to fix a water line leak in Bowden by a couple of days, town officials say.
The leak is located right on Highway 2A near the old hotel.
It's now hoped the project, which began July 3, can be completed in mid July or so.
Swiss Alpine Inc. Trackhoe Service of Olds is doing the work, which is being paid for out of town reserves, chief administrative officer Jacqui Molyneux says.
Mayor Robb Stuart says it's believed the problem dates back several years, but it was only discovered two to three weeks ago.
"(They) found a rock about the size of this desk sitting on the top of the waterline," Stuart said during an interview with the Albertan.
Stuart is doubtful that huge rock would be the direct cause of the leak.
"I would think that's part of it, because over the years, the ground keeps moving. And that rock, it's sitting on that. Just like sandpaper, it just keeps wearing on it," he said.
