Olds resident Noel D'arcy completed a 10-kilometre run in full firefighter gear during the Calgary Marathon on May 26.
It was a dry run for a possible half marathon or full marathon in all that gear, which weighs roughly 40 pounds.
D'arcy even wore an air tank and breathed in oxygen via a face mask the whole way. In the process, he used up four air cylinders. A friend brought them along.
It took him one hour, 21 minutes and 51 seconds to complete the run.
"Feeling pretty good and no permanent damage done. A few days of recovery are needed," D'arcy wrote in an email to the Albertan.
Watch for further details in a later edition of the Albertan.
