OLDS — A Calgary man is facing seven charges after being arrested during a routine street patrol in Olds.

Christopher Clark, 27, is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Didsbury on May 9.

It all began on April 13.

At about 2:15 a.m. that day, Olds RCMP were patrolling in the area of 55th Street and 63rd Avenue in Olds when they saw a vehicle “illegally parked askew on the wrong side of the street,” according to an RCMP news release issued today.

“Police checks of the licence plate revealed the plate was not associated to the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. Further investigation discovered the vehicle to have been stolen out of Calgary,” the release said.

The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested. When the vehicle was searched, police found "tools consistent with those used for the purpose of breaking and entering, a can of bear spray, and various credit cards and identification cards that did not belong to the driver,” the release said.

Police also discovered that the suspect was wanted for outstanding warrants.

As a result, Clark was arrested. A judicial hearing was held and he was released, pending the Didsbury court date.

Clark is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and valued at more than $5,000; obstruction of a peace officer; identify theft; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; possession of property obtained by crime and valued at less than $5,000; possession of break and enter tools; and possession of methamphetamine.
