Olds RCMP has decided to increase its presence in school zones after getting reports from concerned citizens about speeding drivers.
"We will be enforcing not only speeding but any other rules of the road or traffic laws,î said Cpl. Jay Peden, Olds RCMP.
One of the targeted school zones will be in the new development area by Holy Trinity Catholic School, in the western part of Olds.
"There have been a lot of vehicles speeding through that area, especially at the time when the school buses are unloading or loading at the end of the day,î said Peden.
"We will be adopting a zero tolerance policy when it comes to the school areas now.î
Peden also advises parents to be careful where they park when they drop off or pick up their children from school.
"We are seeing an increase of people parking and blocking people's driveways as well as fire hydrants or parking in areas that are designed for no parking,î he said.
Moreover, people should not park in areas where the curb is painted yellow, or if there is signage that says no parking.
