School's Christmas Palooza raises money for Olds Christmas Angels

École Olds High School students were thrilled with the community response and the opportunity to raise funds for a good cause

OLDS — École Olds High School's fourth annual Christmas Palooza raised just over $2,000 for the Olds Christmas Angels.

The Angels, powered by volunteers, has been collecting and delivering toys, and gift cards to needy families in the community for 23 years.

For $25, customers could fill pizza boxes with homemade treats during the event, held Dec. 11 in the school's commons area.

Planners of the event this year were Sophia Dodd, Sydney Van Ginhoven, Mateya Sept, and Sophia Anyka-Holgado.

They were thrilled with the response from the community, which included some town council members.

"Hosting this event to support the Olds Christmas Angels has been a true honour,” Van Ginhoven said in an email.

“There's something truly magical about opening a present on Christmas morning, and it's incredibly special to be part of a cause that brings that joy to others."

Dodd agreed.

"We really enjoyed being able to interact with the community, while supporting a great cause," she said in the email.

“(I) loved being a part of this! So happy we got to share some Christmas spirit with our community," Sept was quoted as saying.

"It was a great opportunity to connect with the community, and being able to work with my peers has been an enjoyable experience,” Anyka-Holgado was quoted as saying.
