Police believe gunfire that struck an Eagle Hill area residence on Sunday morning was deliberately targeted at the occupant, according to Olds RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald.
At about 4:40 a.m., shots were fired through a window and into a wall at the home.
The 59-year-old sole occupant of the residence told police he was awake in his living room when he observed a vehicle with headlights on approaching the home.
“Moments later he heard several shots fired,” MacDonald said in a press release issued Monday.
Officers were called to the scene by the occupant and confirmed that the home had been hit by gunfire.
Police have not said how many shots hit the home or what type of firearm or firearms was involved.
There were no injuries in the incident, he said.
Police believe that the victim was targeted and that “there is currently no indication of a risk to the general public,” he said.
MacDonald did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The Eagle Hill area is northeast of Sundre in Mountain View County.
