OLDS — If you’re out in various areas of town and need some – ahem – relief – you're in luck; the town has purchased six winterized porta potties.
Operations director Scott Grieco announced the purchases during a recent town council meeting.
“We were able to source out a contractor that will essentially have winterized porta potties at the following locations: Centennial Park, Highlands, Imperial, Rotary Park, the dog park and the cemetery,” he said.
In an email to the Albertan, chief administrative officer Brent Williams said the cost is $3,000.
"The cost was modest, so we included (it) in November and December in our 2022 budget and will continue into 2023," chief administrative officer Brent Williams wrote.
Coun. Heather Ryan remembered council discussing the idea, but she could not recall that the purchase had been approved.
She also worried about the cost of installing them.
"When director Grieco went out for costing on this, it came back as very minimal and it does fit within our current year budget in order to do this,” finance director Sheena Linderman said.
"Awesome,” Ryan replied. “Thank you very much, great job.”
