The four charities/causes that will share money raised from the second annual Spring Fling fundraiser have been announced.
They are: Chinook Arch Victim Services compassion dog, expansion the Olds Gymnastics Club into larger facilities, Holy Trinity School playground expansion and Hope4MVCKids, which raises money to help families in Mountain View County who have a child with medical needs.
That announcement was made Wednesday, Feb. 3 in the Mountain View Publishing offices.
Spring Fling is a combination fundraiser and celebration that the end of winter is at hand. This year's edition takes place Friday, April 8, 7 p.m. at the Cow Palace.
Tickets are $75 each. Drinks and fancy hot dogs will be available.
Patrons can vote for any of the four local causes named above. The one receiving the most votes will receive 50 per cent of the proceeds. The other three will split the remaining 50 per cent.
Last year, Olds Hospice received the most votes. A total of about $30,000 was distributed among the four causes.
Organizers say 10 charities/causes applied for Spring Fling money this year. Choosing the final four was very tough, because all were deemed very worthy.
The four causes were chosen by the Spring Fling organizing committee, which features representatives of the Olds Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club Olds Regional Exhibition, Olds Institute, Mountain View Publishing and the town of Olds, among others.
