The Sunshine Bus is back in full operation after being sidelined for repairs since mid-December.

Town officials say a beverage spilled on a component in the para transit van disabled it, forcing it out of commission while repairs were made.

The bus is available to those who are 50 years old and over and/or have mobility issues.

An alternate vehicle was found to transport people, but unfortunately, it didn't have a wheelchair lift, so some people who need that help weren't able to use it.

"This situation has drawn our attention to the importance of the service which the Town of Olds provides to its residents and the need for the development of a practical contingency plan for uninterruption of that service should the bus not be available at any point in time," acting town chief executive officer Pat Vincent says.

But at the moment, that doesn't mean buying a second Sunshine Bus, Vincent says, due to concerns about the cost that would entail.

Town officials could not say how much such a vehicle would cost.
