A man accused of dangerous driving in Bowden and Innisfail was scheduled to appear in Didsbury provincial court yesterday.

Steven Wayne Gallant, 27, was arrested Saturday after police found him driving a vehicle without headlights on in Bowden.

"Members attempted to stop the vehicle and the male fled on foot, leaving the vehicle in gear and allowing it to drive into a snowbank," an RCMP news release says.

"RCMP, along with the Red Deer RCMP police dog service, were able to locate the driver and arrest him without incident."

Gallant had been spotted earlier driving the same vehicle in Innisfail. They tried to stop it, but it fled, with Gallant driving in what RCMP describe as "an unsafe and dangerous manner."

"For public safety, police did not pursue the vehicle," a news release says.

In total, Gallant faces 12 charges: two of dangerous driving, two of flight from police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, five charges of disobeying release from custody conditions, mischief, and driving while disqualified.
