OLDS — The Town of Olds has a new chief administrative officer.
The municipality announced today that Brent Williams has been chosen for the post. He begins his new job May 30.
Williams succeeds Michael Merritt, who retired late last month after being in the position for about five years.
Finance director Sheena Linderman has been filling in as Olds’ acting chief administrative officer.
Williams is currently the chief administrative officer of the County of Minburn. He and his family live in Vegreville.
A March 29 news release says Williams has seven years of experience as a chief administrative officer. He has also worked in the oil and gas and education sectors.
He has both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in political science as well as diplomas in local government and land use planning.
“It is exciting to be joining the Town of Olds as their administrator and equally so as a resident,” Williams is quoted as saying in the news release.
“Olds is a community with a lot going for it. The town’s strong economic base, growing population, and robust business community are a solid foundation on which to build and progress.
“I thank Mayor (Judy) Dahl and council for their support and look forward to working with them and town staff.”
Williams and his wife, Shelane have three children aged six, four and one and are expected to move to Olds in the coming months.
