Olds' second annual municipal census is almost complete and the numbers indicate that the town's population is about the same as last year.“Last year our final number was 8,511. We're just below that right now,” said Debbie Godfrey, the town's legislative clerk.“We're going to come in right around the eighty-five hundred person mark at the completion of this census. That's what I anticipate.”Residents had up to May 16 to respond to the online census. Enumerators have been visiting households to collect information after that date. There are still 143 addresses yet to be accounted for, Godfrey said. The census will be complete by the end of the month.“We're 96.8 per cent completed,” she said. “We have to be, by law, off the streets by June 30th so on July 1, we will have the number that we will submit most likely to Municipal Affairs.”This year's survey also requests feedback on town services in four categories: overall service; communication; recreation and culture; land use and community planning. Results will be compared to data collected by an Ipsos-Reid survey taken in June 2011, Godfrey [email protected]
