OLDS — Mayor Judy Dahl paid tribute to a former town councillor, the late Arvin Bull during council’s March 28 meeting.

Bull passed away March 18.

Dahl noted that he served on town council for 12 years and had a wide range of interests and careers, including farming, real estate/real estate appraisals, as well as church life and activities.

Bull farmed with his brother in the Balzac area. In the early 1970s, his farming business moved to property east of Olds.

Dahl described Bull as a lifelong learner. To that end, he attended Mount Royal College and Olds College, known at that time as Olds Agricultural College.

“Farming was Arvin’s love. But that never stopped Arvin’s passion to explore life as he embarked on being a realtor, land and real estate appraiser, town of Olds councillor, church member, caregiver and much, much more," Dahl said.

“He was a brilliant community leader, always open to share his life experiences and his wisdom with each and every person that wanted to have an ear. His loving heart leaves a shining light for all who knew him.

“On behalf of the town of Olds council, the staff, the community of Olds, we extend gratitude for Arvin Bull’s passion to serve 12 years as a town of Olds councillor and he’ll be dearly missed.”

A private interment ceremony was held March 26. A celebration of life is expected to occur later.
