Two women arrested in drug bust

Two women from Olds are facing drug charges after an incident near the Olds Aquatic Centre.

That incident occurred Friday, Feb. 17.

Olds RCMP received information that "suspicious activity" was taking place near Olds High School and the Aquatic Centre parking lot.

Police say on the afternoon of Feb. 17, "a vehicle was located in the swimming pool parking lot and a traffic stop was initiated.

"During the traffic stop, a small amount of drugs was observed in the vehicle and the lone female driver was arrested," a news release adds.

"Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a second adult female for drug offences and a search warrant being executed at a residence in Olds. Marihuana, cash and paraphernalia were seized during the search warrant."

Kelly Niemeyer, 37, and Amber Niemeyer, 32, both from Olds, are facing charges of trafficking marijuana and a single count of possession of proceeds of crime.

In addition, Kelly is charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. Amber also faces a charge of possession of marijuana under 30 grams.
