OLDS - Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills MLA Nathan Cooper has tested negative for COVID-19, he said today (Nov. 2).
He had been in self-isolation at his condo in Edmonton since Oct. 29 after coming down with flu-like symptoms and taking a COVID-19 test that day.
He received the negative test results early today (Nov. 2).
“I’m all better and will be back to work right away,” Cooper said. “Because I was not in contact with a known COVID case, as soon as I had the negative result I’m able to return to normal life.”
In an interview on Friday, Cooper said he hoped to have had the test results over the weekend.
“I had some mild flu-like symptoms on Thursday morning so out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with Dr. Hinshaw’s (Alberta’s chief medical officer of health) recommendations, I have self-isolated and I got a test that morning,” said Cooper at the time.
Cooper’s position as speaker of the legislature during his two-day absence was handled by MLA Nicholas Milliken.
