OLDS - Two days after Olds College officials were notified on Nov. 30 of two positive COVID-19 cases within the campus community, an additional case was brought to their attention.
Olds College officials were informed of another positive COVID-19 case on Dec. 2.
"The impacted individual has been working remotely, as a result there was no campus exposure connected to this case," an Olds College statement reads.

“The two cases are not connected and the impacted individuals are self-isolating off-campus according to (Alberta Health Services) guidelines. The college has enacted a deep sanitization of all rooms the individuals had contact with,” says a college statement issued Nov. 30
Campus exposure is said to have occurred Nov. 23 in Duncan Marshall Place and the Learning Resource Centre building.
According to information made available on the college’s website “a confirmed positive COVID-19 case in a building means that an individual either worked, attended class or otherwise spent a significant amount of time in this building.”
When there are positive cases on campus, areas occupied by the individual during infectious period are contained, cleaned and disinfected, according to the college’s protocol.
Contact tracing is conducted by Alberta Health Services with support from the college and anyone determined to be a close contact of the individual is contacted and instructed to isolate.
“Based on information provided and following Alberta Health Services guidelines, Olds College has completed interviews with the impacted individuals in order to determine who was in contact with the confirmed cases. Staff or students identified as a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case have been contacted,” the college’s statement says.
If staff or students have not been identified as a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case but develop symptoms as listed on the daily screening tool, they are asked to self-isolate at home and complete the AHS COVID-19 online assessment tool or call Health Link at 811 as soon as possible to arrange for COVID-19 testing.
