BOWDEN -- On May 13, Chris Field of Okotoks-based Rynic Communications is expected to update council on efforts to create a new brand for the Town of Bowden.

In January, council approved $10,000 (plus GST) for that rebranding. Essentially that means one logo and slogan to go on all forms of communication, including the town's website, as well as internal documents, letterhead and business cards.

Jacqui Molyneux, who served for many months as acting chief administrative officer, is not sure how long the current Bowden brand has been in place. But she said it was in place in 2009 when she began working for the town.

During a council meeting late last month, Coun. Carol Pion, a member of the town's economic development committee, said the presentation is also expected to reveal results of a survey of local residents. Plans called for information from that survey to be utilized as the branding is developed.

Pion said at one point, the committee had looked at making a presentation on the branding project during the Bowden Business Showcase, held April 27 at the Paterson Community Centre.

"We decided not to do that. It wasn't the time or the place to do that," Pion said. "We'll do a presentation to council first, make sure we have all those (ducks) in a row first, then proceed to take it to the community after that."

Mayor Robb Stuart praised the economic development committee for its work.

"You've done amazingly, so thank you," he said.
