A salute for Innisfail's 'little people'

Once again the “little people” of Innisfail have rallied for an important cause and have been heard. Coincidence or not, the CAO is resigning.

Once again the “little people” of Innisfail have rallied for an important cause and have been heard.

Coincidence or not, the CAO is resigning.

Congratulations to Jim Carroll and Mary Flemming and their committee of concerned citizens for taking a stand and expressing the opinions of many of the taxpayers and residents of our town.

Further to the cause, the committee is still going to demand answers to the 14 questions asked at the Nov. 28 town council meeting. Again, congratulations.

One of the freedoms that our servicemen and -women have fought so valiantly for is “freedom of the press.” Do not, under any circumstance, try to discourage us from exercising that right.

Freedom of the press is a powerful method of gaining the attention of the citizens of this community, and in Innisfail we are fortunate to have a weekly newspaper with a staff that desires the best for the citizens of our town.

Over the past few years, issues have arisen that could have had very negative effects on the taxpayers of Innisfail if the local press had not brought these issues to the attention of the public.

As Don Corcoran reminded us last week in his letter to the editor, the next election is just a few months away, and I hope the voters of Innisfail will remember the recent negative experiences we have had regarding the issues the town has faced and how they were dealt with by our leaders.
