PENHOLD - While town council has not officially met in front of the public since March 18 when the town office, multiplex and all town facilities, including Memorial Hall and all playgrounds were closed to the public, plans are in place for an upcoming council meeting.
Mayor Mike Yargeau said the town is preparing to go to live streaming for a scheduled April 14 meeting but they might have to meet sooner. He said the town has retained an IT contractor to work on the live-streaming solution.
“The public would be able to view it when all is said and done. I don’t know how it will look yet,” noting it was set up at a previous meeting in order for Coun. Sharolyn Sánchez to join in through videoconferencing. Sánchez was in isolation following a holiday in Mexico.
“It was a temporary set up just for that meeting and we should have something more long-term soon. Things are changing very quickly and we may need to meet sooner than that.”
Yargeau said if council does need to meet before April 14 members would still have to meet at the town office. However, he added precautions for that have been made inside the council chamber.
“We’ve put more separation in between councillors, and obviously there is no public access right now,” he said. “Everyone else is healthy right now but who knows with how this changes.”
