A new industrial subdivision proposed for Sundre's west side has jumped its first hurdle.

During a special council meeting on Nov. 24, the Town of Sundre Land Use Bylaw was amended to rezone a 15-acre lot at 1200 Highway 584, located across from Home Hardware, from urban reserve to industrial business park district.

As well, the town's Municipal Development Plan was amended to rezone the lot from commercial/mixed use to industrial use.

First, second and third readings were passed during the meeting and a public hearing was held, but only the applicant, Chris Aldrich, was present.

According to town officials, the purpose of the re-designation is to create a light industrial park area that would allow for things like light manufacturing and offices at the location.
