The Sundre Art Society sold 24 paintings at its 39th annual art show and sale on Saturday and Sunday at the West Country Centre.
They had a good turnout of about 325 people coming through the doors and about $5,000 worth of art sold, according to Virginia Wilson, the society's president.
There were 24 artists at the show with 151 pieces of art on display.
All of the art displayed at the show was two-dimensional, or as Wilson calls it, art that's ready to hang on a wall.
The art on display included watercolour, pastel, acrylic, oil, mix media, landscape, floral, portrait and pencil sketches.
Not all of the artists who participated are from Sundre, but most of them are within 40 km, she said. Artists come from places like Olds, Bowden and Innisfail.
Last year's show attracted about 400 people and about $7,500 worth of art was sold. There were 25 artists at the show with 154 pieces of art on display, and 31 pieces were sold.
“It's quite a successful show,” said Wilson.
There has been anywhere from $2,000 to $30,000 worth of art sold at the show in past years, she said.
“There's a huge range in skill levels and there's a huge range in price. So we have experienced artists who of course can command a higher price and we have beginners who are just happy to sell a picture.”
Each artist has a limit of 10 pieces they can sell at the show. Ten per cent of the sales go to the art society.
Lila Weiss was voted the favourite artist and the favourite art piece went to Wilson for her piece Boathouse.
